Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex: Solid State Society

The Ghost in the Shell franchise hasn't exactly jumped the shark, but its creative verve is waning.

Set in the same timeline as the GITS: SAC TV series two years after the end of the second series, this theatrical-quality feature length film (originally released on PPV in Japan) seems like a retread of ideas from the TV series and previous GITS movies: sequences of suicides, a hacker who controls people via their cyberbrains, threats of terrorist attacks, government corruption, and a milder version of the surprise in GITS 2.

Fun, but not up to the standards of its predecessors.

Similar violence warning to parents as with GITS.
