Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex: 2nd Gig

Following the same format as the first, television series, episodes which advance an overall plot are interspersed with picaresque self-contained episodes.

Set shortly after the first series and a government shakeup which has resulted in Japan having its first woman Prime Minister, tensions are running high due to the presence in Japan of a large population of refugees from a major land war in Asia, and Section 9 is seemingly faced with another Stand Alone Complex formed around an incident in the pre-World War II period.

The plot is too intricate to say much more about without introducing spoilers.

The animation is not quite up to the quality of earlier GITS anime--more obvious use of CGI in backgrounds--and, well, I didn't like the opening or ending themes much.

Similar violence warning to parents as with GITS.
