Spring and Chaos

A must see. At points, Spring and Chaos is the most visually beautiful entertainment I have ever seen in any medium. The movie combines cel and CGI animation in a particularly interesting way.

The movie is a biography of the noted early 20th century poet and author Miyazawa Kenji. Following Miyazawa's frequent use of anthropomorphized animals (or should that be theriomorphized people?) in his stories, the action of the story, is done in cel animation, with all of the characters--historical persons--drawn as cats.

Stunningly beautiful CGI is used to convey Miyazawa's sudden poetic visions.
